I have a home equity loan, which is going into forclosure. I started looking at the original loan papers and the Texas Constitution’s articles about mortgages, trust deeds, leins, ect. In the constitution, it says that both parties (lender and borrower) must agree with a fair market value of the homestead. I found the fair market statement and I was the only party to sign it. Would that make my loan null?

We’ve owned a home for a year now and recieved a flyer from our bank about applying for a home equity loan. we want to apply so that we can possibly do a little debt consolidation (just a few thousand in student loans and credit cards) but how do you determine if/how much equity you have?

I applied for a home equity loan but was denied because of debt to income ratio. I reapplied with a co borrower and this doubled the income. My credit score is 720 and the co borrower’s is only 600. We both have good employment history. My question is: Will they use my credit score or my co borrowers? Does it matter who makes more money?

I recently sold an investment property with some profit and if I use this money to payoff an home equity line on my primary residence, will I have to pay taxes on it?

The money was used to pay off credit cards. I am still paying on the home equity loan. If I do a home office deduction, which I qualify for in every way, can I use the home equity loan interest as a deductible expense?
